Google Mobile Search

Google have updated their Mobile Search capabilities; besides the XHTML version, there is now a mobile application which offers Google Maps/Local, News, Web search. The application has location awareness when installed on e.g. a GPS-enabled Blackberry (I tested it on my quad-band Blackberry World Edition), and it is quite useful.

That DigitalCyclone's business includes weather reports for mobile devices is perhaps not surprising, given its name. More unusual, however is a new service offering in the medical realm: ER Finder uses GPS or ZIP codes to locate the nearest emergency room, news.com reports.

Yahoo Claims Answers, Not Links Coming Soon

According to a BusinessWeek feature titled 'The Battle for Mobile Search', Yahoo's Senior Director of Global Mobile Products, Ojas Rege, claims that
Yahoo also plans to expand its oneSearch product, launched in January, 2007, so that all mobile searches performed on Yahoo will return information that users want, rather than a bunch of links.

That would certainly be in the interest of the users.
